Stay away from things that are not deemed completely safe when it comes to buying baby bedding. Blankets are cozy for use outside of the crib, but they provide a suffocation risk when used in the crib; as do pillows, which are unsafe for use with newborns and are better relegated to the rocking chair to support mom’s back.
Common decorative items are included with most nursery kits, but they should not be placed in the crib and should not be available to your child until he is a toddler.
Older family members may urge you to use an heirloom crib set, but remind them that over the years, experts’ recommendations regarding a safe sleeping environment for babies have changed quite a bit. By always keeping in mind the safety of your baby boy, you should choose Junior’s crib items wisely, thereby insuring a safe and comfortable sleep.
